At 16:10 on Saturday 15th September 2007, Scotland lost one of it`s Motorsport Heros. Colin McRae and his 5 year old son were killed in a Helicopter crash 1 mile outside his home town of Lanark, Scotland. 2 other people were on board, there were no survivors.

He will be sadly missed.

I heard of his passing from some fellow spectators while at a local rally.

Absolute tragedy. I'm actually beginning to think that me going to NZ for September events is a bad thing; last year it was Brock, this time it was Colin McRae. Terrible, terrible news. Huge loss for world motorsport...

wow, i totally missed that news. A sad day indeed.

I remember when we lost Davey Allison to a helicopter crash in Talladega back in 1993. Not only because of the loss, but more because his last race was my first that I've ever been too. Sunday July 11th, 1993 at Loudon New Hampshire. He finished 3rd.
